Pastor Saeed Transfered To Rajai Shahr, Even More Dangerous

Posted: 12 Nov 2013 07:03 AM PST

The following excerpt is taken from a Washington Post blog post.

Though months ago such a move was threatened as Iranian officials pressured Pastor Saeed to recant his faith in Christ and convert to Islam, the transfer, which occurred Sunday, was abrupt and unexplained.

Pastor Saeed's family in Iran who had been regularly able to visit him once a week was told he had inexplicably been transferred and was denied the ability to see him.

This deeply disturbing development not only cuts him off from contact with his Iranian family but poses a severe danger to Pastor Saeed's life.

One diplomat described Rajai Shahr Prison in these unmistakably grave terms:

"Rajai Shahr is the place where political prisoners who are seen as a nuisance, are stowed away. Going to Karaj is a severe punishment. Once in there one stops to be a human being. One is put out of sight, even of human rights activists and the press. In Rajaï Shahr, political prisoners have to share cells with dangerous criminals like murderers, rapists and drug addicts who don't hesitate to attack their cell mates. They have nothing to lose: many of them are condemned to death anyway. Murders or unexplained deaths are a regular occurrence."

Send Us Your Videos and Spread the Word

Posted: 11 Nov 2013 02:01 PM PST

We still need your help with a video project for the next Secret Church Gathering. Our topic for SC14 is “The Cross and Everyday Life.” So, during the month of November we’re collecting videos, slices of life, from all over the world. Grab your phone or video camera and capture a 1-2 minute video that  is an example of an  ”everyday” moment of your life AND tell your friends to do the same! It can be anything from sharing a meal with friends, hanging out at a book store, driving to school, playing soccer with your kids in the yard, a meeting at work, something you do in a normal day. You can upload or email your video on our project site, ShareYourVideo.net (there are a few more details there).

We’ll post the finished video via our social media channels next spring. We’re looking forward to seeing what you do in a day.  And, we hope you’ll join us on Good Friday, 2014, to look at what the Word says about how the gospel affects these everyday moments.

Pray for Weng Goodluck Tshua

In March 2010, when Weng Goodluck Tshua was just three weeks old, Fulani Muslims attacked his village in Dogo Nahawa, Nigeria. His mother, father, and seven other members of his family were among the 501 Christians who were killed in the attack. The attackers set numerous houses and buildings on fire, including Weng’s house. Someone pulled him out in order to save his life, but his feet had already been consumed by the flames. As he grew up, Weng could not learn to walk or run. In Sept., 2013, a VOM prosthetics team created a specialized pair of prosthetic shoes that have given Weng a new perspective. The shoes have three inner-layers that can be removed as he grows up. The medical team will return in time to create a new pair of shoes. Today, the happy three-year-old has learned to take his first steps.

Weng stands in his new shoes.
