Posted: 18 Nov 2011 02:24 PM PST

Secret Church 11 resources  – video, audio, and study guides (blank and filled) -  are now available for free download on our website. Visit the Secret Church category in our Resource Library.

If you would like to preorder a DVD or CD of “Family, Marriage, Sex, and the Gospel” visit our online store.  Hard copies of the Study Guides for Secret Church 11 are also available in the DMI Store.  These items will be available for shipping by the first week of December.

Additional Resources

Pastor David was not able to cover all of the material included in the study guide due to time constraints.  A comprehensive list of sermon resources was provided in an earlier blog post if you would like to study through the sections that were skipped.  A list of recommended books and other resources are also included in the back of the study guide.

Ongoing Study

We encourage everyone to go back through and study the material from Secret Church 11 again, in small groups or individual study.  Most people describe the pace of study during Secret Church as something akin to “drinking from a fire hose”.  Pastor David covers a great deal of material and it is definitely not meant to be comprehended in one evening.

You will find that the resources on the website and on DVD are broken down into four segments.  Each segment is about an hour or more in length.  You can study through an hour at a time or break the study down into smaller, thirty minute segments.

Go back through the material again, taking time to read through the scripture and really dig through what God’s Word has to say about the issues that were covered in Secret Church 11.  As a small group identify ways you can pray and encourage one another as men, women, wives, husbands, and families.  The goal of Secret Church is to receive the Word in our hearts and reproduce it in our lives; to be equipped to go into our communities and to the nations testifying of the transformation power of the gospel in our marriages, families and relationships.

The Next Secret Church

Secret Church 12 – Good Friday, April 6, 2012

Topic:  The Cross and Suffering

Suffering is a sobering reality in a fallen world. Followers of Christ are not immune to adversity and affliction. On the contrary, there is a real sense in which following Christ means that trials and tribulations are more likely to come our way. As a result, whether walking through sickness, sorrow, pain, or persecution, the questions abound: Why am I suffering? Where is God when I suffer? How can I suffer well? When will my suffering end? How can God be good and allow such evil in the world? How can God be gracious and ordain such suffering in my life? During this Secret Church on Good Friday, we will explore these extremely profound yet deeply personal questions through the lens of Christ's sufferings on the cross. In the process, we will come to a surprising discovery of how the gospel strengthens, sustains, supports, and ultimately satisfies us in the middle of suffering.
