| SC 10 // A PASTOR’S PERSPECTIVE ON SESSION #3 Posted: 05 May 2011 11:00 AM PDT BY Mark Marshall The region we are focusing on for persecuted brothers and sisters in Christ is India. The Global Disciple Making Pastor for Brookhills led us into a time of prayer. We gathered in small groups of 3 or 4 to pray for those suffering persecution in this region. What an honor. And what a sweet spirit in the room. One result I am praying for our church coming out of this event is a heightened awareness of those suffering for their faith. In addition, I pray we see a greater need to focus less on ourselves with our resources and more on unreached people around the world. Again, I long for the people of ClearView to hear this from multiple voices in fresh ways. We have now seen a dozen or so pictures of groups gathered around the world. One touching photo was that of a group of 6 or 8 people in Cambodia. David said these were sent from Brookhills to plant churches in that region. David is picking up speed in order to get to all the content planned. Energy is surprisingly high at this time of night. People are not leaving. We are eating this up. And why shouldn't we if we belong to Christ. These are matters of eternal value. God's Word taught by one God has gifted and applied by God's Spirit into the lives of each of us. ________ Please respond to the following: How did the prayer time for persecuted Christians feel in the group you were a part of? Do you think the people in your group felt is was critical to the reason for gathering or did they feel it was a secondary issue to the evening? After all, it is called Secret Church because identification with persecuted Christians was supposed to be one of the high values we walked away with. ________ Mark holds a Master of Divinity degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, Fort Worth, Texas and a bachelor of science degree from Georgia State University in Atlanta.
