| SC 10 // A PASTOR’S PERSPECTIVE ON SESSION #4 Posted: 06 May 2011 11:00 AM PDT BY Mark Marshall David brought it with a strong finish. He took on one of the doctrines many choose to make a point of division in the church: the doctrine of election. David did a masterful job of showing us why it is not a doctrine of division, but a doctrine that leads to unity. He made the point it is primarily the church in the west that struggles with this doctrine. That is because of our tendency to begin with ourselves and not with God in our thinking and theology. It is a doctrine for the redeemed, not those who have not yet believed. Great point! On a side note, we were told Secret Church (#SC10) was trending at #3 on Twitter at one point. Wow! For those that don't Twitter, that simply means there were thousands of twitters being sent in a short time period about the event. The night has been awesome! As a Pastor I could not be more pleased our people were exposed to this teaching. Appetite for the Word of God grows the more we study it. I have no doubt this event increased our capacity as a body of believers to love the Word. Now let's obey the Word and take what we have learned and share it in the process of making disciples. For those who bemoan the decrease of "revival meetings" they grew up with, I would like to welcome you to the new "revival". There is no question the people who attended last night are changed and certainly better equipped for the building up of the body of Christ. Thank you LifeWay, Disciple Making International, and David Platt for your efforts to provide this event. We are all looking forward to the next one! ________ Please respond to the following: There is no question, if there is another simulcast, we will be one of the first to sign up. There is no question, the people belonging to the church I serve will be excited to do so. We will evaluate the lasting impact in the days and months ahead. How do you hope your congregation will respond? How will you as an individual respond? ________ Mark holds a Master of Divinity degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, Fort Worth, Texas and a bachelor of science degree from Georgia State University in Atlanta.
